Sea Lions are very common on all islands in the Galapagos and can be easily observed on many beaches. They are believed to be descendants of the California sea lions having reached the remote islands swimming and drifiting in the currents. Their relatives, the fur seals or fur sea lions are also present on many beaches but being nocturnal and sleeping in the daytime in crevasses are not as easily seen.
