Gentians occur in the high altitude regions of the world's
mountains. There are about 400 species in the genus and they come in many forms
and colors but most boast hues of blue. Many have medicinal values and are therefore considered herbs.In the Alps one gentian is used to make the famous Enzian
Schnapps.
The root is immersed in alcohol and over a long period of time the
bitter
but curative essence dissolves itself
in the liquid.
