Cloudforests cover both flanks of the
Andes mountains and reach from 1000m to some 4000m. As the
clouds arise from the tropical lowlands and move up towards the
Andes range, they often seem to stick to the forest, hence the name. It
is an ecosystem rich in plants and animals. Especially
birds, orchids and bromeliads give it a special flavour.
