Crickets
are related to grasshoppers and have like them strong hind legs adapted for jumping.
In contrast to grasshoppers their antennae are very
long exceeding their body length.
They can be found from the high paramo to the tropicalregions,
wherever there is vegetation to feed on. They produce their chirping by
rubbing their front wings or other parts of their body together.
