Jatuncocha means Big Lake
in Quechua as it is one of the largest lakes found in the
Ecuadorian Amazon. It is fed by the Yasuni river and is
situated near the Peruvian border and is part of the Yasuni
National Park. The lagoon teems with large and small fish
with caimans and river dolphins feeding on those. In
the surrounding forest many birds can be found and a
mineral spot serves parrots as feeding grounds. |
