Cuenca is Ecuador's third largest city
with close to
300 000 inhabitants and by many considered the most beautiful
colonial one in the country. It was a center of arts
and culture in colonial times and still displays a well
preserved old center, which was
recently declared a
world cultural heritage site by UNESCO.
