Riobamba is the provincial capital of Chimborazo
and is dominated by
the volcano of the same name, which is Ecuador's highest mountain.
Riobamba is the place where the first constitution was
written and is therefore called the birthplace of the
republic.
It boasts of an colonial center with old churches and buildings
and is the starting point of the train ride passing
the famous Devil's Nose.
